What’s your preferred method of starting a new partnership?

Mine is sending someone a referral IMMEDIATELY.

Why?

3 reasons:

1. The fact that I have an opportunity means that there is an indication of value to our internal teams and customers.

2. It’s a great way to test a new partnership, get quick feedback on their solution + how our teams work together, and it allows us to use this as a pilot ’case study’ for future conversations.

and...

3. It’s an amazing way to kickstart a partnership into high gear and show them we mean business while building a quick case for why they should be thinking of us for referrals and other value-adds.

F*ck your feelings

"Your feelings are valid, but f*ck your feelings." — Mike Davis

Mike Davis was recently on the Friends with Benefits podcast with Sam and Jason Yarborough.

He mentioned that partnership people tend to get too caught up in feelings. For example, "I feel this deal went faster because of our partnership."

Mike reminds us that Partnerships people need to use metrics and a data-based approach if they want to prove value.
